     While still pressing the rim down with one hand, reach for one of the lugs, and hook it onto the rim. Insert the threaded end through the tuning ring, then add the washer and the nut. OK, this part is pretty difficult too; again, just be patient and keep trying. You may need to use your forearm, chest, or chin to hold the rim in place while threading the nut. Don't thread the nut all the way on, just enough that it won't come off when you pull on it.

     Then do the diagonally opposite lug the same way. Getting the second one on can be a pain. Just keep pushing down on that corner until the threading of the lug sticks through the tuning ring enough to get the nut onto it.

     Once you've got that one, the last two are easy.

     Make sure your lugs are lined up properly, then start tightening them in the diagonal pattern, making sure to tighten them each the exact same amount. Check to make sure the crown is lined up straight with the top edge of the drum.

     Keep tightening until the top edge of the rim is at least 1/2" lower than the top edge of the shell.
